MECCA – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended a dinner at Al Rayan Restaurant, Rotana Hotel Jabal Omar, on Sunday evening. The event took place at 6.30pm local time, coinciding with the ongoing Hajj season.
The Governor and Toh Puan were warmly received at the venue, which is located near the Grand Mosque in Makkah, a central hub for pilgrims during the annual pilgrimage.
Their presence highlighted Sarawak’s strong ties to Islamic traditions and the importance of spiritual observances for leaders representing the state abroad.
During the dinner, both expressed their hopes that all religious obligations would be carried out smoothly and prayed for continued health and well-being throughout the pilgrimage period.
“We hope that all religious affairs will be facilitated and that we will always be blessed with health and well-being throughout the Hajj season,” they said.
The Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam, draws millions of Muslims from around the world to Makkah each year. For Malaysian pilgrims, the journey is often seen as a deeply significant spiritual milestone.
The governor’s attendance at the dinner underscored the shared experience of faith and unity among Muslims during this sacred time.
The Rotana Hotel Jabal Omar, where the dinner was held, is a prominent location for international visitors due to its proximity to the holy sites.
The Al Rayan Restaurant is known for hosting distinguished guests and providing a setting for cultural and religious gatherings.
The governor’s visit to Makkah reflects the broader tradition of Malaysian leaders participating in Hajj-related activities, reinforcing the country’s commitment to supporting its citizens in fulfilling religious duties.
It also serves as a reminder of the importance of health, safety, and spiritual readiness during the pilgrimage.
As the Hajj season progresses, Malaysian authorities continue to emphasise the need for proper preparation and guidance for pilgrims.
The governor’s remarks resonate with this message, encouraging a focus on well-being and smooth facilitation of religious practices.
This occasion not only marked a personal moment for the governor and his spouse but also symbolised Sarawak’s representation in one of the most significant religious events in the Islamic calendar.
