KUCHING – His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd. Sanusi, hosted a farewell dinner at Kasuma Resort in honour of Major General Dato’ Khairul Anuar Abdul Aziz, Commander of the First Infantry Division, and his wife, YBhg. Datin Roslina binti Abu Bakar.
The dinner marked the conclusion of Major General Khairul Anuar’s tenure in Sarawak, where he served for one year and five months.
During the evening, he announced his upcoming transfer to the Joint Forces Headquarters in Kuantan, Pahang, where he will assume the role of Chief of Staff.
The event was attended by close family members and relatives of the Governor, including his daughter Sharifah Fariah’s daughter, Sharifah Nong-Jasima, with her husband Mohd. Hakeem and granddaughter Athena.
Also present was Tun’s cousin, Siti Azalina Wan Hussein, accompanied by her husband, Lt. Colonel Anuar bin Ahmad.
The evening began with a discussion session touching on matters of state interest, followed by a souvenir exchange between the Governor and the Commander as a gesture of appreciation and remembrance. The exchange symbolised the strong ties formed during Major General Khairul Anuar’s service in Sarawak.
In his remarks, Tun Wan Junaidi expressed deep gratitude for the Commander’s contributions, acknowledging his dedication to duty and service to the state.
He extended prayers for continued health, strength, and success in his new role, noting that his efforts had greatly benefited Sarawak during his tenure.
The farewell dinner highlighted the importance of military leadership in supporting state security and development.
It also reflected the close relationship between Sarawak’s leadership and the armed forces, reinforcing mutual respect and cooperation.
Major General Khairul Anuar’s transfer to Kuantan marks a new chapter in his career, with expectations that his experience in Sarawak will serve him well in his expanded responsibilities at the national level.
