KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy visit from FELDA Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek at the State Astana, Petra Jaya, on 13 April.
The meeting, which lasted close to an hour, provided an opportunity for both leaders to discuss FELDA’s role in supporting economic stability among newcomers and its relevance to Sarawak’s wider development agenda.
The delegation accompanying the Chairman included Mr Razuan bin Che Rose, Director of Plantation Operations, Chief Special Officer Mr Mohamad Halizi bin A. Bakar, Special Officer Mohamad Isa bin Hassan, and Special Officer Abdul Azim bin Abdul Rahim.
Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek commended the Governor’s leadership, noting his dedication to maintaining harmony within Sarawak’s multi-racial society.
He also highlighted Sarawak’s achievements in advancing the green economy and digital economy, describing them as examples for other states across Malaysia.
During the discussions, the FELDA Chairman outlined several new initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of settlers.
These programmes are designed to align with Sarawak’s long-term vision of becoming a developed state by 2030, focusing on sustainable growth and community empowerment.
Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between federal agencies and the Sarawak Government.
He expressed hope that such cooperation would remain strong, ensuring that development projects are effectively implemented and benefit communities across the state.
The courtesy call reflects FELDA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening ties with Sarawak, particularly in areas of economic resilience and social well-being.
It also underscores the state’s growing reputation as a leader in sustainable development and digital transformation, both of which are increasingly recognised at the national level.
