LINGGA – The President of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, arrived safely at the Lingga Fishing Pier on Sunday morning, 3 May 2026. Their arrival marked the final day of the D’Astana Adventure Programme in Lingga.
The couple travelled aboard the Damai Princess Catamaran from Sebuyau, accompanied by their daughters Sharifah Fariah and Sharifah Nong-Jasima, along with their husbands, Mr Muhammad Nur Hakeem Yusop.
The delegation reached Lingga at 10.15 am, where they were warmly received by senior government officials, community leaders, and local residents.
Among those present to welcome them were Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, Advisor at the Sarawak Premier’s Office; YB Datuk Mong Dagang, Bukit Begunan assemblyman; YB Dayang Hajah Noorazah binti Awang Sohor, Lingga assemblyman; and Mr Mahra bin Salleh, Resident of Sri Aman Division, accompanied by his wife Puan Dayang Azizah binti Mohd Salleh. Also in attendance were Professor Dr Firdaus Abdullah, Rector of UiTM Sarawak Branch; Mr Frank Lani, Lingga District Officer; as well as tribal leaders, including Temenggong Mohamad Shah Achang, Temenggong Kueh Aik Seng, Penghulu Wan Amit Wan Kamil, and Penghulu Komiti anak Manduh.
Upon arrival, a prayer recitation was led by Ustaz Rafizi bin Wahab, followed by a Hadrah performance presented by the Nur Islam Group from Kampung Hilir Lingga.
The programme reflected the cultural and spiritual traditions of the community, adding a ceremonial touch to the occasion.
The governor and his wife later joined dignitaries and community leaders for a group photograph at Dataran Lingga, capturing the moment as part of the historical visit.
The delegation then proceeded to the Al-Hana Lingga Mosque Hall, where they attended the Lingga manuscript presentation ceremony. This event highlighted the district’s cultural heritage and its efforts to preserve historical records.
Following the ceremony, the governor and his wife participated in a luncheon with the Lingga community, further strengthening ties between the state leadership and local residents.
The gathering provided an opportunity for dialogue and reinforced the importance of community engagement in Sarawak’s development journey.
The Lingga stop concluded the D’Astana Adventure Programme, which has seen the governor and his delegation visit several districts to foster closer connections with communities across the state.
The initiative underscores Sarawak’s commitment to cultural preservation, community unity, and leadership outreach.
