Sarawak Governor and Wife Visit STATOS to Strengthen Trade Ties

SINGAPORE – The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, paid an official visit to the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS) immediately after arriving in the republic.

The delegation included Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee and his wife Datin Dr Haniza Zainal Abidin, as well as Dato’ Fenny Nuli, Director of the Sarawak Regional Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia.

They were joined by the Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore, Dato’ Indera Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, and his wife Datin Indera Che Norhayati Soib, who welcomed the Sarawak Governor and his entourage.

Upon arrival at STATOS, the delegation was received by Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, who also serves as STATOS Director, alongside STATOS Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Chief Executive Officer Chew Chang Guan, and staff members.

The Governor and his wife toured the exhibition area showcasing Sarawak’s premium products, including food, handicrafts, agricultural produce and lifestyle items.

During the briefing session, STATOS leaders outlined strategies to strengthen business networks, boost exports and expand market access for Sarawak products in Singapore and across the Asia-Pacific region.

Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi emphasised the importance of STATOS as a gateway for Sarawak’s trade, investment and tourism interests.

He expressed pride in the state’s proactive initiatives through STATOS, which continue to drive economic development, promote local products and expand Sarawak’s international investment and tourism network.

The visit concluded with a commemorative photo session and the signing of the visitors’ book, symbolising the strengthening of ties between Sarawak and Singapore.

This official visit marks the Governor’s first trip to Singapore since his appointment, underscoring Sarawak’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and opening new avenues for cooperation in trade and tourism.
