MIRI – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, visited the residence of Temenggong Haji Abang Mohamed bin Haji Abang Othman and his wife Puan Hajjah Hairiah binti Abet at Jalan Kampung Luak, Miri, on 27 March to mark the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
The visit formed part of the Governor’s Aidilfitri programme in Miri, which includes engagements with community leaders, relatives, and close associates.
The Governor was accompanied by his daughter Sharifah Nong-Jasima, her husband Muhammad Nur Hakeem Yusop, and their child Tasneem.
Several senior state leaders also joined the occasion. Among them were Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts as well as Minister of the Interior, with his wife Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini binti Abdul Jaabar; Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport Sarawak, with his wife Datin Sri Kong Shui Lin; Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak; and Adam Yii, ADUN N.17 Pujut and Mayor of Miri City Council.
The gathering was held in a warm and festive atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of Aidilfitri as a time for strengthening bonds and fostering unity.
Guests shared conversations and exchanged greetings, highlighting the cultural significance of family and community ties during the celebration.
In his remarks, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by Temenggong Abang Mohamed and his family.
He described the visit as a meaningful opportunity to reinforce friendships and kinship in the blessed atmosphere of Aidilfitri.
The Governor’s presence underscored the importance of maintaining close relationships between leaders and communities in Sarawak.
