KUCHING – Sarawak is set to host a landmark sporting event with the third edition of the Sarawak Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) Carnival, which will also feature the MAGGA National Series 1.
The competition will take place on 25–26 April 2026 at Dewan Sa’ati, SUPP Headquarters, Kuching, and is expected to draw approximately 300 gymnasts and delegations from across Malaysia.
Organised by the Sarawak Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Association (SAGGA) and sanctioned by the Malaysian Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Association (MAGGA), the event marks Sarawak’s second time hosting the national series.
It reflects the growing prominence of AGG in the state and its contribution to the sport’s nationwide development.
The programme includes several key components: the National AGG Development (NAD) Program Competition, the International Competition Rules (IFAGG) Program, and a special training workshop with Malaysia’s Junior Mixed Team gymnasts.
This edition also introduces the Mixed Team Program, aimed at strengthening athlete development and raising technical standards.
The competition schedule begins on 25 April with the NAD Program, starting at 12:00 noon and concluding with a prize-giving ceremony at 4:30 pm.
On 26 April, the IFAGG Program will take place, followed by the training workshop, which offers participants the opportunity to train alongside national-level gymnasts.
All events are sanctioned by MAGGA and judged by certified national and international judges, ensuring adherence to global standards.
Organisers emphasise that the carnival supports long-term athlete development and provides Anak Sarawak with opportunities to excel in artistic sports.
SAGGA expressed its appreciation to MAGGA for continued support and acknowledged the contributions of sponsors, including MILO, Jerald’s Cookies & Desserts, KIN Kombucha, J Eleven Cleaning Services, Marigold & Vitagen, Sharing Planet, Mini Kuih Pandan (Roselle’s Kitchen), and RK Nasi Lemak.
Established in 2019, SAGGA has played a pivotal role in promoting AGG in Sarawak through grassroots programmes, structured athlete pathways, and certified coaching systems.
Its flagship AGG School Programme ensures that young Sarawakians have access to artistic sports development and values-based opportunities.
The Sarawak AGG Carnival 2026 is expected to be a milestone in the sport’s journey, reinforcing Sarawak’s position as a hub for gymnastics development and contributing to Malaysia’s broader sporting aspirations.
