KUCHING – The Sarawak Sovereign Future Wealth Fund Board (SSWFFB) hosted its Hari Raya Aidilfitri ceremony at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Dining Hall on 8 April, drawing together state leaders, dignitaries, and community representatives.
The event was attended by His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Sarawak’s Governor, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi. Their arrival was warmly received by Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, Chairman of the SSWFFB.
Among the distinguished guests were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who represented the Premier of Sarawak, together with his wife Dato Hajah Dayang Morliah binti Datuk Awang Daud.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, with his wife Dato Enn Ong Siok Ean, as well as Speaker of the Sarawak State Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nassar and his wife Dato Hajah Fatimah binti Mohd Iskandar.
Other attendees included Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, deputy ministers, and senior officials.
In his address, Tan Sri Sulong Matjeraie expressed deep appreciation for the Chief Minister and his wife’s presence, noting that their attendance reflected the leadership’s commitment to remain close to the people and to support institutions that safeguard Sarawak’s economic and social well-being.
He emphasised that the ceremony symbolised the importance of unity and collective responsibility in advancing the state’s future.
Representing the Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan highlighted the significance of the Chief Minister’s participation, describing it as a gesture that not only brightened the celebration but also reinforced support for initiatives aimed at strengthening community welfare and cohesion.
During the ceremony, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi commended the SSWFFB for its role in managing Sarawak’s financial resources responsibly. He stressed that the Board’s work was crucial in ensuring transparency, sustainability, and prudent investment practices, which would safeguard the prosperity of future generations.
He further expressed hope that the SSWFFB would continue to play a pivotal role in supporting Sarawak’s economic development agenda, delivering long-term benefits through resilient and high-impact investments.
The gathering underscored the values of Aidilfitri, unity, harmony, and togetherness, while also highlighting the importance of financial stewardship in securing Sarawak’s future. The presence of leaders from across the state reinforced the message that economic progress and community well-being must go hand in hand.
