PANTU – Families in the Pantu District have received a boost in preparing their children for the new school year through the Sejahtera MADANI Initiative, which delivered essential school supplies during a handover session at the Pantu District Office on Tuesday.
The programme, organised under the Education Scope of the Sejahtera MADANI Initiative by the Sarawak State Development Office and the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM Sarawak), aims to ease household expenses while ensuring students are better equipped for their studies.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Pantu District Officer Raca Mulong, with ICU JPM Sarawak (Sri Aman Zone) represented by Senior Assistant Director Nor Izzah Marzuki.
The event took place at the district office’s meeting room, with participation from several agencies and support staff.
A total of 15 students benefited from the initiative. Eight recipients received reimbursements of RM500 each for school items purchased at nearby Syarikat Hari-Hari outlets, while seven others opted for direct supply orders arranged through the programme.
This dual approach ensured flexibility for families, allowing them to choose the most convenient method of obtaining school essentials.
The Sejahtera MADANI Initiative is part of the broader Malaysia MADANI People’s Wellbeing Initiative, which focuses on improving access to aid and services through coordinated outreach.
The programme in Pantu follows the earlier MADANI Customer Day Outreach held at Dewan Suarah Sri Aman, designed to ensure assistance reaches eligible recipients efficiently.
Officials highlighted that the initiative is not only about providing immediate support, but also about creating a more supportive learning environment for students.
By reducing financial strain on families, the programme helps children focus on their education with the necessary tools in hand.
The Pantu District Office expressed gratitude to all agencies and individuals involved, noting that the success of the programme reflects strong cooperation and commitment to community welfare.
The office also voiced hope that similar initiatives will continue in the district to support educational needs and strengthen social wellbeing.
Also present at the event were officers from ICU JPM Sarawak (Sri Aman Zone), the Development Section of the Pantu District Office, and MySTEP personnel, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the initiative.
The Sejahtera MADANI school aid programme is expected to serve as a model for future community-focused projects, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial challenges.
