BINTULU – The SESCO Berhad Workers’ Union Sarawak (KPPSSBS) has earned international recognition by winning the Gold Award in the Social Sciences category at the Borneo International Technology Expo 2025.
This achievement positions the union alongside leading universities and industries in research and innovation, signalling a shift beyond traditional labour advocacy roles.
Johnny Pang Leong Ming, Tanjong Batu State Assemblyman, praised the union’s groundbreaking research on leadership succession planning, led by Puan Junaidah binti Selihi.
He emphasized that modern challenges like automation and global competition require unions to innovate while safeguarding workers’ rights without hindering economic growth.
The award underscores KPPSSBS’s preparedness for future challenges through strategic planning and adaptive leadership.
The union’s research focused on sustainable leadership models, addressing technological disruptions in the energy sector while ensuring workforce stability.
