UDC Event 2026

The three-day event, held at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang, concluded today after drawing strong participation from local residents.

The initiative, coordinated by the Sarawak Implementation Monitoring Unit (SIMU), brought together ministries, departments, and agencies at both state and divisional levels.

Its purpose was to deliver government policies directly to the people while strengthening ties between authorities and communities.

Among the highlights of SKUAD’s involvement were the Fun Run, Fun Walk, Sukaneka Rakyat, Aerobiction Challenge, and Tug of War.

These activities not only encouraged physical fitness but also served as platforms to raise awareness about the importance of living free from drugs.

Organisers noted that the combination of sports and recreation helped instil positive values among participants, particularly the younger generation.

The SKS Programme is structured around five components: official ceremonies, exhibitions, service counters, entrepreneur stalls, and community activities.

The community activities segment has proven especially popular, featuring cultural performances, entertainment, e-contests, and recreational sports.

These events have consistently attracted enthusiastic responses from residents, reflecting the programme’s success in fostering unity and inclusivity.

Officials explained that SKS is more than just a showcase of government services. It is designed to nurture a sense of belonging and pride among Sarawakians, reinforcing the message that no community should be left behind in the state’s development agenda.

By combining policy delivery with interactive activities, the programme has become a model for bridging governance and grassroots engagement.

The Sibu Anti-Drug Squad’s participation underscores the importance of integrating health and social awareness into community programmes.

By encouraging fitness and teamwork, SKUAD aims to reduce the risk factors associated with drug abuse and promote resilience among families and youth.

Their presence at SKS also highlights the role of civil society groups in complementing government initiatives.

Observers have noted that SKS has become a vital platform for reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to social well-being.

Beyond entertainment and recreation, the programme has succeeded in strengthening racial unity, enhancing public confidence in state development, and instilling values of togetherness.

Community leaders praised the collaborative nature of SKS, pointing out that the involvement of diverse agencies ensures that services are accessible to all.

From health screenings to entrepreneurship opportunities, the programme provides practical benefits while also celebrating Sarawak’s cultural identity.

The Sibu edition of SKS reflects the state government’s broader vision of inclusivity and empowerment. By combining policy outreach with community activities, the initiative demonstrates how governance can be made more approachable and relevant to everyday lives.

As the curtain falls on the Sibu SKS, attention now turns to upcoming editions in other divisions, where similar programmes are expected to continue strengthening community bonds and promoting healthy lifestyles.

For SKUAD, the event reaffirmed its mission to champion a drug-free society while encouraging active participation in sports and recreation.

The success of SKS in Sibu illustrates how large-scale programmes can simultaneously deliver government services, promote public health, and foster unity.

It stands as a reminder that development is not only about infrastructure but also about nurturing strong, resilient communities.
