SIBU – A training session on the nomination of Prescribed Forest Activities (PFA) and assessment applications through the Forest License Portal took place on 16 March 2026 at Tanahmas Hotel. The programme aimed to strengthen understanding of digital tools used in forestry management across Sarawak.
The session was officiated by Semilan anak Ripot. In his opening remarks, he stressed the need for stakeholders to understand digital systems used in forestry administration, especially as online platforms play a larger role in resource management and regulatory compliance.
The training focused on the process of nominating Prescribed Forest Activities and submitting assessment applications through the Forest Licence Portal. Organisers explained how the system streamlines documentation and approval procedures, supporting more organised and transparent forest management practices.
Also attending the programme were Annie Ting and Ahmad Ashrin bin Mohamad Bohari. Their presence reflected cooperation between government agencies and industry representatives in improving forestry operations.
Participants included members of the forestry sector who took part in technical briefings and practical sessions on using the portal system. The hands-on training helped participants better understand the submission process and how digital tools reduce administrative delays.
The Forest Licence Portal forms part of Sarawak’s wider digitalisation effort in natural resource management. Through the use of technology, authorities aim to manage forestry activities more efficiently while maintaining regulatory oversight.
Industry stakeholders said the training provided useful insights into how digital platforms improve transparency and accountability in forestry operations. With forests playing a key role in Sarawak’s biodiversity and economic development, efficient management systems remain essential.
The programme concluded with strong support from participants, reflecting Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to innovation, collaboration, and sustainable forest management.
