Tibak Baok crowned 2025 Simunjan Women’s Futsal Open Champion after defeating Fuerza FT

SIMUNJAN – The Tibak Baok team from Petrajaya Kuching Club has been crowned champion of the Simunjan 2025 Women’s Futsal Open Championship following a tense final decided by penalties.

They overcame the Fuerza FT team from Kuching in a match that concluded 0-0 after regular time, with Tibak Baok securing a 2-0 victory in the ensuing shootout.

The thrilling final, played at the Seri Nancy Arena, was witnessed by Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee and Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris.

Rodiyah presented the prizes to the victorious teams, highlighting the event’s significance.

Tibak Baok’s captain, Asrika Amin, described the encounter as exceptionally challenging. She expressed her team’s delight at their preparation paying off with a meaningful victory.

Fuerza FT’s captain, Hasnah Achan, acknowledged the defeat but praised her squad’s determined performance.

The tournament, featuring 20 competing clubs, served as a key opening event for the larger Simunjan Festival 2025.

This festival is a major regional attraction anticipated to draw over 100,000 visitors and features more than 20 activities, including a regatta and cultural events.

As champions, Tibak Baok received RM3,000, a trophy, and medals. The runners-up, Fuerza FT, were awarded RM2,000.

The Tidal Bore team from Kuching and the D’Samarahan team from Samarahan finished in third and fourth places, taking home RM1,000 and RM500, respectively.

The event is recognised as a positive platform for nurturing local sporting talent and strengthening community bonds.

The festival’s sporting calendar continues with the U17 men’s category and the open men’s futsal tournament scheduled for the coming days.
