SONG – The Song District Police Headquarters (IPD) carried out an Integrated Crime Prevention Operation alongside the Omnipresence and AMANITA Engagement Programmes on 16 April 2026, beginning at 9am across Song town.
The operation was led by INSP Canisius Tinggang Segau, Head of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, supported by 17 junior police officers from various branches.
The initiative aimed to strengthen public safety through visible police presence and direct engagement with the community.
Key objectives included preventing property crime, enforcing traffic regulations, checking suspicious individuals and vehicles, and identifying persons on the wanted list.
Officers also interacted with traders and customers in Pekan Song, providing information about the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application, which allows the public to submit information and lodge complaints more easily.
Leaflets were distributed to encourage VSP registration and raise awareness of current commercial crime trends.
Police also shared details of the Sarawak JSJK CCID Scam Response Centre hotline and advised traders to install CCTV systems to enhance the security of their premises.
The operation recorded 55 individual checks and 54 vehicle inspections, resulting in six summonses. Three new VSP registrations were completed, though no arrests or seizures were made.
No criminal complaints or security issues were reported during the programme, which proceeded peacefully and smoothly.
Song District Police Chief DSP Benedict Faris Bin Jimoy stated that the initiative reflects IPD Song’s continuous efforts to improve safety through patrols, inspections, and consistent police presence.
He noted that the involvement of AMANITA, a programme designed to foster closer ties between police and the community, received positive feedback from traders and residents.
The community welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that similar programmes would continue regularly.
Police reiterated their commitment to working closely with the public as crime prevention partners, stressing the importance of vigilance and cooperation in maintaining security.
