MSS Brings Musical Magic with SONS Junior Performers

Young Talents Take Centre Stage at SONS Junior Musical Showcase in Kuching

KUCHING – The spirit of local arts will come alive this December as Majlis Seni Sarawak (MSS), in collaboration with tHe Spring Shopping Mall, presents the highly anticipated SONS Junior Musical Showcase. Set to take place on 20 December 2025 at 1:00 PM, this free event promises a vibrant celebration of music, dance, and youthful creativity for the entire community.

The showcase will feature a spectacular line-up of young performers, including 40 talented musicians in the orchestra, 20 students in the choir, and 16 dancers. The opening dance, “Puteri Santubong,” performed by students from the Kelas Bimbingan Seni, is expected to captivate audiences with its graceful choreography and colourful presentation. The musical segments will highlight the beauty of orchestral music in a relaxed and approachable setting, offering a rare opportunity for the public to experience classical performance in an engaging and fun environment.

The event will begin with the arrival of invited guests at 1:00 PM, followed by distinguished attendees including Datin Christine Ling, Executive Director of tHe Spring Shopping Mall, Encik Awang Ikman bin Awang Sepian, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MSS, and Datu Sherrina Binti Hussaini, Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak. The highlight of the ceremony will be the official opening by Yang Berhormat Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak.

Following the official proceedings, audiences can enjoy the first segment of the SONS Junior performances, followed by an enchanting dance showcase by the Kelas Bimbingan Seni. The second segment of the showcase will continue to feature young musical talents, concluding with a memorable finale and a special gift presentation to mark the celebration.

With free admission and an inviting atmosphere, the SONS Junior Musical Showcase is more than a performance—it is a platform for nurturing young talent, encouraging appreciation of orchestral music, and fostering creativity within the Sarawak community. Residents and visitors alike are invited to attend and support the next generation of Malaysian artists.
