Teachers across Sri Aman gathered on 16 March 2026 for the Sri Aman District Islamic and Arabic Teacher Sungkey Council, held on the 26th day of Ramadan 1447H.
The event took place at SK Agama MIS Sri Aman and brought educators together for reflection, discussion, and fellowship during the holy month.
Several education leaders attended the programme. Among them were Sri Aman District Education Officer Tuan Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Muhiyuddin and Ustaz Syaifullah bin Ismail, Assistant Officer from the Islamic Education Unit at the District Education Office.
Muslim headmasters and teachers of Islamic and Arabic studies from schools across the district also joined the gathering.
The programme blended spiritual learning with professional connection. Participants began with a prayer session, followed by an usrah discussion organised by zones.
The discussion focused on the eighth hadith from Imam Nawawi’s collection of 40 Hadith, giving teachers time to reflect on Islamic teachings while sharing thoughts with colleagues.
As evening approached, the teachers broke their fast together. The shared meal created a warm setting and strengthened relationships among educators who work in different schools across the district.
Organisers described the Sungkey Council as more than a simple iftar gathering. The programme aimed to strengthen bonds among teachers while reinforcing the values promoted during Ramadan.
Through discussion and reflection, participants were encouraged to bring lessons from the holy month into their teaching and daily work with students.
The presence of district education leaders highlighted strong support for educators in both professional and spiritual growth. It also reflected wider efforts within Sarawak’s education sector to build cooperation and unity among teachers.
The 2026 Sungkey Council served as a reminder of the role teachers play in shaping students’ character and values. As Ramadan nears its final days, the gathering reinforced a shared commitment among educators to guide the younger generation with compassion, discipline, and integrity.
