KUCHING — The Preview Buffet Rembulan 2026 organised by Sumiran Catering received an encouraging response from the public, with all seats fully booked during its one-night preview session held on Friday. The strong turnout reflected growing interest in halal Sarawak and Nusantara heritage cuisine, especially ahead of the upcoming fasting month.
The preview buffet took place on Feb 6 at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Hall here, running from 5.00pm to 9.00pm. It was organised to give the public an early taste of Sumiran Catering’s menu for the upcoming Buffet Rembulan season, which will officially begin later this month.
The event attracted families, working adults and groups of friends, drawn by its affordable pricing and wide range of traditional dishes. Adults aged 13 and above were charged RM50, while children aged 12 and below were allowed to dine for free. Many attendees described the price as reasonable, especially considering the variety of food served and the comfortable dining environment.
The menu featured a mix of Sarawak and Nusantara favourites, reflecting Sumiran Catering’s cultural roots. Among the highlights were traditional Indonesian rice with side dishes, Sumiran Signature Dishes like Mi Jawa Sumiran, Mi Kolok Sumiran, Lontong, fried noodles, selected Western-style dishes and a variety of confectionery. The spread aimed to cater to different tastes while maintaining a strong heritage identity.
Sumiran Catering later confirmed that the preview session was fully booked, signalling strong public confidence in the brand. Several diners shared positive feedback on the food quality, flavour consistency and overall organisation of the event, with many expressing interest in returning for the full buffet season.
The preview was also attended by the board members of Sumiran. Among the attendees are Executive Director, Ir. Ts. Tuan Hj Suyanto Osman and Dato’ Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman, Non-Executive Director of Sumiran. Their presence highlighted the management’s commitment to maintaining standards and engaging directly with customers.
Following the successful preview, Sumiran Catering announced that the main Buffet Rembulan will be held from Feb 19 until March 15, 2026, at the same DBNA Hall venue. The buffet will operate daily from 5.00pm to 9.30pm and will continue to feature halal Sarawak and Nusantara heritage cuisine.
With demand already proven during the preview night, Sumiran Catering has advised members of the public to make early reservations to avoid disappointment. The company remains confident that the upcoming Buffet Rembulan will attract strong crowds throughout the season.
