KUCHING – In a show of compassion and care, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Lintang branch has stepped in to support a local woman currently battling cancer. Miss Yu, a resident undergoing treatment for uterine cancer, recently received essential aid from the party’s community care team, led by Batu Lintang Branch Chairman, Sih Hua Tong.

The initiative was carried out following a heartfelt request from Miss Yu’s family. Recognising her immediate needs, Sih Hua Tong and his “Brother Dong” Team quickly mobilised to prepare a package that included female hygiene products and basic daily necessities. The items were handed over to Miss Yu’s younger brother, who accepted them on her behalf.

Sih Hua Tong said the team’s action was part of their continued commitment to serve the local community, especially those facing serious health conditions or in need of immediate assistance. “We hope our small gesture can bring some comfort to Miss Yu and her family during this challenging period,” he said.

This act of kindness is part of SUPP Batu Lintang’s wider Sarawak Care initiative, which focuses on grassroots support and neighbourly concern. The campaign aims to make a tangible difference in the lives of residents, particularly those experiencing hardship or illness.

The community programme, led by the Brother Dong Team, has seen various outreach activities across the constituency, reaffirming SUPP’s dedication to building a caring and united society in Sarawak.

Such efforts reflect the growing importance of community-driven action and the impact that local leaders and volunteers can have when working closely with the people they serve. – SUPP Batu Lintang Branch
