KUCHING – The Federation of Sarawak (SUPS) has called on the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Sarawak to strengthen operational efficiency, integrity and service delivery as part of efforts to reinforce its role as the nation’s frontline agency.
Speaking at the 104th Immigration Day Celebration Ceremony held on 18 August at the Sultan Iskandar Building Auditorium, SUPS Secretary YBhg. Dato Ahmad Nadzri bin Mohd Hassan emphasised the importance of continuous improvement in the department’s operations.
He urged JIM Sarawak to adopt a forward-looking approach in creating a new image that reflects professionalism and reliability.
Dato Ahmad Nadzri highlighted that the Immigration Department plays a critical role not only in managing border control but also in safeguarding national security and sovereignty.
He noted that Sarawak’s entry points must remain secure to ensure confidence among citizens and visitors alike.
The ceremony brought together senior officials and staff of JIM Sarawak, including Director Tuan Haji Abdul Halim bin Abang Naili and Deputy Director (Management) Puan Roslinda Hanim binti Mohd Yusoff.
Their presence underscored the department’s commitment to strengthening its institutional capacity and aligning with national priorities.
In his address, Dato Ahmad Nadzri stressed that integrity and efficiency are essential pillars in delivering quality services to the public.
He added that immigration officers must continue to uphold high standards of accountability while adapting to evolving challenges in border management.
The Immigration Day celebration served as a platform to reflect on the department’s achievements and reaffirm its mission in supporting Sarawak’s development.
Officials noted that operational excellence and strong ethical values are key to ensuring that immigration services remain responsive to the needs of the community.
The call by SUPS is expected to encourage closer collaboration between federal and state agencies, reinforcing Sarawak’s position as a gateway for international engagement while maintaining robust security measures.
