SRI AMAN – The quick and efficient action of Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) successfully prevented a fire involving a pile of construction materials from spreading further near Pekan Lachau, Jalan Serian–Sri Aman last night.
Sarawak Zone 3 Fire Chief, Muhammad Rais Adham Rosalan, said they received an emergency call at 9.33pm, prompting the immediate deployment of seven firefighters led by Senior Fire Officer II Nicholas Langi to the scene.

“Upon arrival, our team confirmed a fire involving construction items, estimated to have spread over an area of about 20 square feet,” Muhammad Rais said in a press release today.
The Operations Response Team (PKO), wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), assessed the scene before launching an extinguishing operation using a first aid hose connected to a fire engine. Additional water was drawn using a transport pump from an open water source located around 500 feet away.
Among the items destroyed were company-owned materials such as nets and canvas, which were stored on top of a pile of iron rods. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Muhammad Rais added that the cause of the fire and total losses are still under investigation.
He reminded the public, especially contractors and construction material owners, to always store materials in safe and secure conditions to avoid similar incidents in the future.
This incident once again highlights the importance of fire safety awareness and the dedication of local firefighters in protecting lives and property through quick and decisive action.
