23 Tasik Biru Students Receive RM7,300 in Education Incentives

BAU — A total of 23 students from the Tasik Biru State Constituency (DUN) who successfully enrolled in public and private higher education institutions (IPTA/IPTS) have been awarded education incentives amounting to RM7,300.

The incentives were presented by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport (Rivers and Seas), Dato Henry Harry Jinep, in a brief ceremony held at the Tasik Biru N2 Service Centre Office Meeting Room on Wednesday.

Dato Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru Assemblyman, said this marked the fourth such distribution this year, bringing the total disbursed so far to RM20,900, benefiting 52 students.

“This contribution is a one-off assistance from the Sarawak government aimed at motivating students who are pursuing tertiary studies across various fields, while also alleviating some of the financial burden faced by their families,” he said.

He emphasised that the incentive is awarded fairly, without regard to race or household income level, as long as the applicants meet the eligibility criteria.

According to him, the initiative has significantly benefited the local student population. In 2023 alone, a total of RM90,200 was distributed to 160 students from the Tasik Biru constituency.

Dato Henry added that educational support remains a priority to ensure that students from all backgrounds have a fair opportunity to pursue academic excellence and contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s development.

The incentive programme continues to reflect the Sarawak Government’s commitment to inclusive education and youth empowerment across all regions of the state.
