BATANG SADONG – The upgrading project for Taska Permata Kemas Kampung Lubok Punggor has been successfully completed at a cost of RM85,000, significantly enhancing early childhood education facilities in the rural community.
Implemented by the Sarawak State Development Office (SDO) through the federal People-Friendly Project (PMR) allocation, the comprehensive renovation included roof repairs, ceiling replacement, gutter installation, external fencing, new electrical wiring, lighting systems, and fan installations.
The project handover ceremony was attended by Batang Sadong Parliamentary Service Centre Special Officer Idris Ibrahim, representing Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee.
In a social media statement, Rodiyah expressed appreciation for the upgraded facilities, emphasizing their potential to benefit both young learners and the broader community through improved safety and comfort.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts to address infrastructure gaps in rural educational facilities, particularly in Sarawak and Sabah, where many centres require urgent attention.
The upgrade is expected to positively impact early childhood education quality by providing a more conducive learning environment, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive rural development.
Similar PMR-funded projects have recently improved infrastructure in other regions, such as longhouse road access in Betong and concrete flooring in Bintangor, demonstrating a coordinated approach to enhancing rural livelihoods.
Federal allocations, including RM4 million dedicated to upgrading Tabika and Taska centers in Sarawak and Sabah in 2025, further support these efforts.
The Sarawak government continues to prioritize early childhood education, with recent initiatives including collaborations with international experts to adopt inclusive education models and nature-based learning approaches.
These measures collectively aim to ensure equitable access to quality education across the state, supporting long-term goals under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
