Teen Found Drowned After Going Missing While Catching Shrimp in Sandakan

SANDAKAN, 19 Feb – A 14-year-old boy who was reported missing while catching shrimp has been found drowned on the coast of Tanjung Pisau early this morning.

The victim’s body was discovered by members of the public around 6.30am, approximately 20 kilometres from where he was last seen.

According to Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, Severinus @ Mohd Nidzam Sainkui, authorities were alerted to the discovery of the body, prompting an immediate response from the fire brigade.

“Upon arrival, our team retrieved the body and handed it over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further investigation. The operation was called off at 10.50am after confirming the area was safe,” he said in a statement.

<strong>Disappearance Sparked Concern Among Family and Villagers</strong>

The teenager was reported missing last Saturday after going out to catch shrimp in the waters of Tanjung Semawang with several friends. When he failed to return home as expected, his worried family and villagers quickly reported his disappearance to the authorities.

Authorities conducted an extensive search operation before members of the public eventually found the body this morning.
