Three Dead, Four Injured in Crash on Serian-Sri Aman Pan Borneo Highway

BALAI RINGIN: A tragic accident claimed three lives and left four others with minor injuries after a head-on collision involving a four-wheel drive vehicle at Engsebang Kuari, along the Serian-Sri Aman Pan Borneo Highway, today.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), the distress call was received at 11.54 am. In response, seven personnel from the Serian Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival at 12.34 pm, our team found that all victims had already been removed from the wreckage by members of the public. Three victims were confirmed dead,” PGO said in a statement to the media.

The deceased have been identified as Paula Janting, 43, Janting Pangau, 75, and Senin Beriak, 65, who died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, four other individuals sustained light injuries in the crash. The fire and rescue team carried out initial treatment before the injured victims were taken to the hospital using an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) ambulance.

The operation, led by Senior Fire Officer I Nasihin Jaum, was declared complete at 1.00 pm.

The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety along the Pan Borneo Highway, which has seen several fatal accidents in recent months. Authorities continue to urge motorists to remain alert and drive cautiously, especially during peak travel hours.

The bodies of the victims have been handed over to the police for further action, while investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
