In a shocking and tragic incident early Friday morning, two policemen were killed and another was injured in an attack by an intruder at the Ulu Tum Police Station. The attack, which occurred around 2 a.m., left the police force and community in mourning.
Details of the Attack
Jeor Police Chief Commissioner M. Kumar reported that the suspect, a man in his 30s, entered the police station and launched a brutal assault on the constable who was manning the counter. The suspect allegedly slashed the constable on the neck and head, resulting in his immediate death.
Hearing the commotion, another officer came out to investigate and was subsequently shot by the suspect, who had taken the first victim’s firearm. This second officer also succumbed to his injuries.
A third officer then engaged the suspect, shooting him dead at the scene. The identities of the fallen officers have not yet been released pending notification of their families.
