Tragic Accident: Cousins Killed in Kuching Motorcycle Crash

KUCHING, 8th January 2025 – A tragic accident occurred last night in Kuching, claiming the lives of two cousins after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a parked lorry. The incident took place along Jalan Pelabuhan around 11:10 PM.

According to Kuching’s police chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, the victims were 25-year-old and 18-year-old cousins traveling from Jalan Pending towards Jalan Bako when the crash occurred. The motorbike collided with the rear of a lorry that was parked on the road shoulder, which led to the fatal incident.

The lorry driver was detained to help with the investigation, which is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The police have urged the public to assist with any information about the accident by contacting Traffic Investigation Officer Insp Muhammad Amirul Azami Ahmad Rasol at 016-8593994 or 082-259900, or visiting the nearest police station.

In his statement, ACP Mohd Farhan also warned motorists about the dangers of parking on road shoulders, stressing that such actions can lead to dangerous situations for other road users. The tragic loss of these young lives serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible parking.
