Tragic Accident: Man Crushed by Collapsed Wall in Kuching

KUCHING, 24 Feb — A 27-year-old man tragically lost his life after being crushed by a collapsed building wall at Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui, Central Timur, this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) Sarawak received a distress call at 10:08 am and immediately dispatched a team from the Padungan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to the scene.

Upon arrival, rescue personnel found the victim trapped under the rubble. Despite their efforts, the Ministry of Health of Malaysia (KKM) later confirmed that the man had succumbed to his injuries.

Fire Department Responds Swiftly

According to a spokesperson from the JBPM Sarawak Operations Centre, the rescue team worked quickly to retrieve the victim from beneath the debris.

“The Operations Team arrived at the location and found an adult man trapped under the collapsed structure. The victim was confirmed dead by KKM personnel at the scene,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Authorities have yet to reveal the cause of the collapse, and the police are expected to conduct further investigations.

Community Shocked by the Incident

The tragic event has left the local community in shock, with many expressing their condolences to the victim’s family. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud crash before discovering that the structure had given way.

Authorities urge building owners and developers to ensure the structural integrity of buildings to prevent similar accidents in the future.

The victim’s body has been handed over to the police for further procedures, including an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures in construction and renovation sites.
