Tragic House Collapse in Kuching Claims Life, Police Seek Public’s Help

KUCHING, Jan 4 – A tragic incident unfolded early this morning at Jalan Stampin Baru when a house collapsed, claiming the life of a 58-year-old man.

The victim, identified as Lim Inn Tong, was found buried beneath the rubble of his home. A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that the emergency call was received at approximately 2.50 am. Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the public informed the rescue team that a victim was trapped under the debris. A rescue operation was promptly launched to locate and save the individual,” said the spokesperson.

The operation culminated at 4.05 am when Lim was extricated from the wreckage. Tragically, medical officers from the Health Ministry confirmed that he had already passed away. His body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah has urged the public not to engage in speculation regarding the incident as investigations are ongoing.

“We appeal to anyone with information about this tragic event to come forward. You may contact investigating officer Abdur Ghani Bigik at 013-8954711, the Kuching Police District (IPD) operations centre at 082-244444, or visit the nearest police station,” said ACP Mohd Farhan.
