SELANGAU: A self-inflicted accident on Jalan Sibu-Selangau left two men lucky to be alive after their Perodua Axia crashed into the back of a parked trailer late this evening.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO), they received an emergency call at 7.30 pm regarding the accident. In response, five firefighters from the Selangau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were immediately dispatched to the scene near the Batu 42 bus stop.

Driver Unhurt, Passenger Injured
The Perodua Axia was travelling along the road when it collided with the rear of the stationary trailer, which was parked on the shoulder of the road. Despite the impact, the driver miraculously escaped without any injuries. However, his passenger suffered an injury to his left leg.

Firefighters, equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE), quickly assessed the situation. The injured passenger was given a cervical collar for neck support before being carefully placed on a stretcher.
Victim Sent to Selangau Health Clinic
Once stabilised, the injured man was handed over to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) ambulance team for immediate medical attention. He was transported to the Selangau Health Clinic for further treatment.
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the accident. However, motorists are reminded to stay alert and drive cautiously, especially on highways where stationary vehicles may pose a risk.
