Two-Storey House in Serian Razed by Fire, No Casualties Reported

SERIAN: A two-storey semi-permanent house in Kampung Stabun, Serian, was completely destroyed in a fire early this morning. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), they received an emergency call regarding the fire at 6.55 am. Following the alert, a team from the Serian Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately deployed to the location.

To support the firefighting efforts, the Siburan Fire Brigade, stationed just three kilometres away, was also called in to assist. The first fire engine arrived at the scene at 7.00 am, and the team swiftly began extinguishing the flames using two streams and two nozzles in both offensive and defensive operations.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 7.28 am. Overhaul procedures were then carried out to ensure that no residual flames remained, preventing any potential reignition of the fire.

The Operations Commander confirmed that the house, measuring approximately 50 x 30 square feet, was entirely destroyed in the incident. However, no individuals were found to be inside the residence at the time of the fire.

At present, the cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation by the authorities.
