KUCHING, Feb 18 — His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, have conveyed their heartfelt Ramadan Al-Mubarak 1447H greetings to Muslims across Sarawak and Malaysia.
In a message released today, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi expressed deep gratitude to Allah SWT for granting Muslims the opportunity to once again welcome the holy month of Ramadan. He described Ramadan as a special and meaningful time in the Islamic calendar, reminding Muslims that it is the month in which the Holy Quran was revealed and the month when fasting was made obligatory.
According to the message, fasting during Ramadan is not merely a physical act of abstaining from food and drink, but a spiritual exercise aimed at shaping a more obedient soul and strengthening faith and piety towards Allah SWT. The Yang di-Pertua Negeri noted that Ramadan serves as a period of reflection, self-discipline, and spiritual renewal for all Muslims.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi also called on Muslims to make full use of the blessed month by increasing acts of worship. He encouraged the faithful to perform more prayers, read and reflect on the teachings of the Quran, give charity to those in need, engage in dhikr, and seek forgiveness with sincerity and humility. He stressed that these practices are essential in deepening one’s relationship with Allah SWT and fostering good character.
He further expressed hope that the observance of fasting would act as a shield against negative and meaningless acts, while nurturing patience, humility, and gratitude among Muslims. The discipline learned throughout Ramadan, he said, should continue to guide daily life even after the holy month ends.
In his prayer, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi asked that all acts of worship performed during Ramadan be accepted, sins forgiven, and that Muslims be blessed with peace, well-being, and prosperity throughout the month. He also prayed for unity, harmony, and continued blessings for the people of Sarawak and the nation as a whole.
The message concluded with a sincere prayer, “Aamiin Ya Rabbal ‘Alamin,” followed by the warm greeting, “Marhaban Ya Ramadan,” reflecting the spirit of welcome and reverence for the holy month.
As Muslims prepare themselves spiritually and mentally for Ramadan Al-Mubarak 1447H, the message from the Sarawak Head of State serves as a timely reminder of the true values of faith, compassion, and self-restraint that define this sacred period.
