KUCHING, November 3, 2026 – The stage at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) came alive with magic, love and laughter as talented students presented Teater Mimpi, a theatre production inspired by William Shakespeare’s famous comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The three-night production, held from October 30 to November 1, 2026, took place at Panggung Eksperimen, Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA), UNIMAS.
Organised by Persatuan Apresiasi Kreatif Teater (SIKREATE), the performance featured students from the Drama and Theatre programme at FACA, including postgraduate students as well as Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 students.
The story followed four young people caught in a complicated love story inside a magical forest. With the help of fairies and the mischievous character Puck, their relationships took unexpected turns, creating a series of funny and confusing situations.
The production was directed by En Muhammad Azri Ali and En Muhammad Qawiem Hamizan from FACA, UNIMAS.
With a ticket price of RM10, the theatre production offered audiences an opportunity to enjoy a night of live performances while supporting the creative talents of UNIMAS students.
Teater Mimpi also highlighted the importance of theatre and performing arts in providing students with opportunities to develop their creativity, acting skills and stage experience.
The successful production marked another meaningful effort by UNIMAS students to bring performing arts closer to the community while keeping classic theatre stories alive through a new generation of performers.
