KUCHING: The Ramah Mesra Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development (KPWKM) brought together Sarawakians in a celebration of unity, diversity, and cultural harmony. Held at Wisma SABATI in Sourabaya Indah on Saturday, the event saw over 5,000 attendees, including people from various communities such as the Chinese, Iban, Bidayuh, and Orang Ulu. The remarkable turnout highlights how the state’s cultural diversity contributes to the strength of its social unity.

Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, graced the event with his presence, further underlining his commitment to strengthening the unity of the people in Sarawak. His participation reflected the significance of collective support for efforts aimed at fostering a harmonious society.
In her speech, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, emphasized the importance of nurturing family bonds and social well-being as key pillars in building a strong society. She noted that, especially in a multi-racial and multi-religious country like Malaysia, these events serve as vital platforms for bridging the gap between different communities. “We must continue to organize such events to promote unity and positive values,” she remarked.
The ceremony featured a variety of performances, including traditional dances and live renditions of Aidilfitri songs, creating an atmosphere of joy and inclusiveness. Guests were also treated to a wide array of local delicacies, enhancing the communal spirit of the gathering.
This inaugural event marks a significant milestone in Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to unite its people, regardless of their cultural backgrounds, while celebrating the richness of their traditions. — UKAS EDITION
