Another victim injured and sent to clinic for treatment
BINTANGOR, April 22 – A tragic accident took place at Mile 11, Jalan KJD Julau today, claiming the life of a 30-year-old man, Ricky Walter. He was confirmed dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) following a self-inflicted road accident involving a four-wheel drive Toyota Hilux.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO) said it received an emergency call at around 3.20 pm. A team of three firefighters from the Bintangor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was quickly dispatched to the scene.

According to the statement, Ricky Walter was found unconscious and trapped inside the driver’s seat when firefighters arrived. His vehicle was overturned, and rescuers had to use special equipment to reach him.
“A four-wheel drive vehicle was found involved in a self-accident. One male victim was confirmed dead at the scene by KKM,” the spokesperson said.
Another adult male, who was the front passenger, survived the crash but suffered injuries. Members of the public helped remove him from the wreck and sent him to the Julau Health Clinic for medical attention.
Firefighters stayed on site to manage the vehicle recovery, waiting for assistance from a crane to lift the overturned Hilux. Once the space was clear, the team worked to extract the victim.
The victim’s body was handed over to the police for further investigation. The entire operation was wrapped up by 4.30 pm.
Police and Ministry of Health personnel were also at the scene to assist with documentation and safety control.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of careful driving, especially on rural and winding roads.
