Young Biker Dies in Rainy Crash on Jalan Kota Samarahan–Asajaya

Young Biker Dies in Rainy Crash on Jalan Kota Samarahan–Asajaya

KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 7: A late-night accident along Jalan Kota Samarahan–Asajaya has tragically claimed the life of a 21-year-old motorcyclist. The fatal crash occurred at KM 8 of the route around 11.08pm on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Yusri Jumadi, who was riding a Yamaha Legend motorcycle from Asajaya heading towards Kampung Baru, Kota Samarahan. According to Samarahan District Police Chief Supt Damaterius Lautin, initial investigations suggest that the victim lost control of his motorcycle on the wet road, skidded, and fell into the opposite lane.

He was then hit by an oncoming Toyota Vios driven by a 20-year-old man from Kampung Sebandi Ulu, who emerged unharmed.

Emergency responders quickly rushed the victim to the Kota Samarahan Heart Centre, but he was sadly pronounced dead at 12.25am on April 7.

At the time of the incident, the road surface was wet due to heavy rain, possibly contributing to the fatal skid.

The motorcycle sustained scratches while the car’s front bumper and body were damaged. The victim’s body has since been taken to the Sarawak General Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.

Police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Authorities are also appealing for witnesses who may have seen the accident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
