Young Generation Urged to Strengthen Knowledge & Morality for the Future

MATU – A member of parliament has issued a rallying cry for the younger generation to solidify their knowledge and ethical character as a foundation for future success. Ahmad Johnie Zawawi, the Member of Parliament for Igan, asserted that this combination is indispensable for building a prosperous future.

He delivered this message while officiating the Student Excellence Award and Graduation Ceremony for the 2025 cohort at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Matu.

The event, held at the school’s Aula Inspirasi Hall, celebrated the conclusion of secondary education for numerous students.

In his address, the parliamentarian advised students to let academic and personal achievement guide their post-school lives.

He proposed a broader definition of success, one that extends beyond mere examination grades to encompass deeper personal qualities.

“Real success is not only measured through examination results, but through discipline, fighting spirit, and sincerity in seeking knowledge,” Ahmad Johnie stated.

This holistic view of development is frequently emphasised by educators aiming to produce well-rounded citizens.

He further urged the graduating class to acknowledge the significant contributions made by parents and teachers. He reminded them of the sacrifices often made by these figures to facilitate their educational journeys.

The ceremony honoured a total of 169 graduates, which included 167 Form Five students and two scholars from the Special Education Integration Programme.

These students were recognised for successfully completing their schooling during the 2025 academic session.

As a tangible commitment to enhancing the school’s resources, the MP announced a significant donation of educational technology.

The contribution included permanent LED Panels and Smart Boards, equipment designed to modernise the learning environment.

This technological infusion is intended to bolster the digital learning ecosystem and facilitate more interactive teaching methodologies.

Such upgrades are increasingly seen as vital for keeping rural educational institutions competitive and effective.

The event was not solely a formal proceeding, but also a celebration of student talent. The programme was enhanced by various live performances from the student body, showcasing their skills beyond the academic sphere.

Awards were distributed across several categories, acknowledging excellence not just in academics, but also in co-curricular activities and personal character. This multi-faceted recognition aligns with the broader message of nurturing balanced individuals.

Investments in digital classroom tools reflect a wider trend within the state to bridge technological gaps in education. The initiative in Matu demonstrates a practical application of this policy at the local level.
