1,500 Bantu Family Kits Distributed to Disaster Victims in Miri

MIRI: A total of 1,500 Bantu Family Kits have been sent to Miri for distribution to disaster victims through their respective District Offices. This initiative aims to provide essential aid to affected families and ease their burden.

Each kit contains vital household items, including an electric kettle, rice cooker, Narita toto, two blankets, two towels, pelikat cloth, and a batik sarong. These items are intended to help families rebuild their daily lives after facing hardship due to natural disasters.

The Sarawak Post-Disaster Assistance Handover Ceremony for Miri Division was officially launched by Miri Division Resident, Galong Luang, who is also the Chairman of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (JPBB). The ceremony took place at the Sarawak Islamic Complex, Miri, on Tuesday.

This assistance is part of the Government-Linked Companies (GLC) Demi Rakyat dan Negara (GDRN) initiative, a joint effort by foundations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) units of government-linked companies (GLCs). The initiative is coordinated by Yayasan Hasanah and Yayasan TM, with support from Yayasan PETRONAS, ensuring that aid reaches those in need efficiently.

The program highlights the strong collaboration between government agencies and the corporate sector in assisting communities affected by disasters. It also reflects the dedication to humanitarian aid and disaster recovery efforts in Sarawak.
