22 Left Homeless as Fire Destroys 4 Houses in Kampung Tabuan Dayak

KUCHING, Feb 17 – A massive fire engulfed four rented two-storey houses at Lorong 10, Kampung Tabuan Dayak last night (Feb 16), leaving 22 people homeless.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 9.01pm and immediately dispatched firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station, with additional support from the Batu Lintang station.

<strong>Firefighters Rushed to the Scene</strong>

Upon arrival, firefighters worked tirelessly to control the flames. Bomba also coordinated with Sarawak Energy to cut off electricity supply and the Kuching Water Board to increase water pressure for firefighting efforts.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng was also present at the scene to assess the situation and provide support to the victims.

<strong>No Casualties, Investigation Underway</strong>

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, all four houses were completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and authorities are also working to assess the total losses incurred.

<strong>Victims Seek Temporary Shelter</strong>

The 22 victims, comprising 18 adults and four children, lost their homes overnight. They are currently seeking temporary shelter at All Saints’ Church in Jalan Tabuan Jaya, where they are receiving basic necessities and assistance.

The fire operation was fully completed at 11.27pm.

Authorities urge the public to be vigilant about fire safety, especially in densely populated residential areas. Those who wish to donate essential items to the victims may contact the local community representatives or relief organizations.
