The visit was also joined by key state figures, including YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, Sarawak State Secretary, and his wife; YB Datuk Ir. Aidel bin Lariwoo, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure & Port Development and Assemblyman for N.24 Sadong Jaya; YBhg. Tuan Haji Mual bin Haji Suaud, Director of JAIS; Sahibul Fadilah Ustaz Dato’ Haji Mustapha Kamal bin Ahmad Fauzi, Grand Imam of Sarawak; and Encik Mohamad Irwan bin Bahari Bujang, Resident of Samarahan.

During their brief visit, the dignitaries took time to explore the vibrant market, which offers fresh vegetables, traditional foods, and locally made handicrafts. The Sarawak CM and his wife personally purchased goods from small traders, showing their genuine support for local entrepreneurship.

“Supporting small traders is very important in strengthening the local economy and ensuring the survival of community-based industries,” said TYT Tun Pehin Sri. He commended the hard work and resilience of traders in sustaining their businesses.

The visit highlighted the importance of traditional markets as the backbone of local commerce. The support from the Sarawak government towards small traders not only boosts their confidence but also ensures the growth of grassroots economies. Such initiatives play a crucial role in preserving local culture and sustaining livelihoods in rural communities. — TYT Sarawak
