MANCHESTER, 29 April 2025 – A Malaysian delegation led by Deputy Premier YB Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian paid an official visit to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) this morning, engaging in a fruitful two-hour knowledge exchange session focused on governance, strategic planning, and regional development.
The visit was part of Malaysia’s ongoing effort to explore successful international models that can be adapted to strengthen its own regional planning and governance. The session provided valuable insights into how GMCA, one of the UK’s leading metropolitan bodies, integrates urban development, public services, and community initiatives through a unified and forward-thinking approach.
Participants from the Malaysian delegation described the exchange as eye-opening, with open and engaging discussions sparking many new ideas to address shared urban challenges such as housing, transport, and community welfare.
