Member of the State Assembly (ADUN) Tanjong Batu, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, accompanied by his service centre team, representatives of the SIB Church, and the Public Works Department (JKR), conducted a site visit on Thursday to assess the situation.

Johnny Pang prioritised ground flattening works and a thorough risk assessment around the affected area.

“During the survey, I found a deep ravine near the cemetery, posing a serious safety risk. I will work closely with the church, JKR, and the cemetery manager to develop an effective safety plan as soon as possible,” he said.

He also noted that Christian cemeteries in urban areas are nearing full capacity, prompting the acceleration of new cemetery construction in suburban and rural areas to meet future community needs.

He urged all stakeholders to speed up coordination efforts and pledged to seek the necessary funding and institutional support to ensure the project’s success.
