Tun Pehin Wan Junaidi & Wife Grace Sarawak Ma’al Hijrah 1447 Event

BINTULU – The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, graced the Sarawak-level Ma’al Hijrah 1447H/2025M Gathering held at the Bintulu Civic Centre on Friday.

The event, which celebrated the Islamic New Year, was attended by a host of dignitaries and leaders from across the state. Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi was welcomed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who represented the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Also in attendance were:

  • Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar
  • Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah
  • Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi

The event commenced with a nasyid performance, followed by a Qur’an recitation by 2009 National Qari Champion Awangku Omar Asfuaddin Awg Hamdan, and a tadabbur session led by Sarawak Mufti, Datu Kipli Yassin.

A key highlight was the presentation of the 1447H Ma’al Hijrah Awards, recognising 18 individuals across various categories for their contributions to religion, society, and leadership.

After the ceremony, Friday prayers were performed by Tun Pehin Sri and the attending male dignitaries at Assyakirin Mosque, Bintulu.
