BINTULU – The Bintulu Car Free Morning (BCFM) 2025 drew enthusiastic participation from local residents during a vibrant event held at Tanjung Batu Beach on Saturday. The initiative, spearheaded by the Bintulu Development Board (BDA), featured a diverse lineup of activities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and environmental consciousness.

State Assembly Member for Tanjong Batu, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, expressed strong support for the initiative, calling it a “high-impact” programme that aligns with Bintulu’s goal of becoming a Low Carbon Industry Hub by 2030.

“This programme not only encourages healthy living but also advances our carbon-reduction agenda while raising public awareness about the importance of sustainable urban development,” Pang said.

The event featured a variety of activities catering to all age groups, including aerobics, a Running Clinic, Fun Run Hunt, plogging (jogging while picking up litter), a pet show, and numerous family-friendly leisure activities. These offerings created a vibrant space for the community to come together and engage in meaningful interactions.

One of the key highlights of the programme was the launch of a dedicated 5km jogging and cycling route, marked specifically for the event. This initiative is part of BDA’s continued effort to encourage the public to embrace active and inclusive use of public spaces for recreation and mobility.

Organisers were lauded for their efforts in bringing together health, community, and sustainability into a single impactful event—strengthening Bintulu’s image as a forward-looking, green city.
