KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a triple bonus for Malaysians: a RM100 cash aid, a reduction in RON95 petrol price to RM1.99, and an additional public holiday on September 15.
As part of the expanded Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) initiative, every Malaysian aged 18 and above will receive RM100 credited directly to their MyKad beginning August 31, 2025. This one-off government assistance is expected to benefit around 22 million citizens across the country.
Anwar said the credit can be used at more than 4,100 registered retail outlets nationwide, including supermarkets and convenience stores, and will remain valid until December 31, 2025. This move, he explained, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ease the financial pressure on the rakyat and stimulate domestic spending.
“This assistance is timely and necessary as many are still coping with the rising cost of living. We want to ensure that no one is left behind,” said Anwar during his special announcement today.
To further support the people, the government will also reduce the price of RON95 petrol to RM1.99 per litre under a targeted fuel subsidy scheme. This subsidy adjustment is expected to be rolled out by the end of the year, pending final approvals and implementation plans.
In celebration of Malaysia Day, which falls on September 16, Anwar also declared September 15, 2025, as an extra public holiday to give Malaysians more time to appreciate and reflect on national unity.
These announcements come as the government seeks to reinforce its Madani economic agenda, promote fairness, and strengthen support from all walks of life—especially the B40 and M40 income groups.
