Tatau Gears Up for 2025 Festival with 43 Agencies and 40+ Cultural Events

TATAU – Preparations for the 2025 Tatau Festival are now in full swing, with 60 representatives from 43 government and non-government agencies collaborating to ensure the success of the 17-day cultural celebration, scheduled from 29 August to 14 September.

Tatau District Officer Calvin Ligong said this year’s festival will be held at Sungai Jatan Community Park and will feature more than 40 events, aimed at showcasing the vibrant cultures and traditions of the district’s diverse ethnic communities.

“This festival plays a key role in strengthening unity among the people of Tatau while also promoting the district as a cultural tourism destination,” Calvin said during the 2025 Tatau Festival Coordination Meeting held at the Tatau District Office on Tuesday.

The meeting addressed critical preparation aspects such as logistics, event scheduling, safety measures, community participation, and promotional strategies to ensure a seamless execution.

Calvin also announced that the festival’s official launching ceremony will take place on 5 September 2025 and is expected to draw visitors from across the region, generating positive economic impact for local businesses.

“The enthusiastic participation of various agencies, NGOs, and community groups reflects how the Tatau Festival is evolving into a high-impact annual event,” he added. “We hope this festival continues to be a source of pride for the people of Tatau.”

Also present at the coordination meeting were Assistant District Officer and Chief Coordinator of Tatau Festival 2025, Winnie Dian; Bintulu Resident’s Office representative, Baithy Tini Nikey; and Tatau District Information Officer, Donny Minggu Ling.

With weeks to go before its launch, the Tatau Festival 2025 promises to be a celebration of unity, heritage, and local pride.
