Police Crack Down on Illegal Racing in Bintangor During “Op Motorcycle”

MERADONG, 2 November 2025 – Police from the Meradong District Headquarters (IPD Meradong), through its Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, carried out “Op Motorcycle” around the Bintangor Market and Jalan KJD areas early this morning, in a continued effort to curb illegal motorcycle racing and other traffic offences.

The operation, which ran from 12.00 midnight to 2.00 am, was aimed at tackling illegal racing activities, identifying motorcycles with unlawful modifications, and ensuring that all riders comply with traffic regulations and vehicle standards set by authorities.

According to IPD Meradong, a total of 12 individuals were checked during the operation, involving 10 vehicles — eight motorcycles and two motorcars. Police also issued several summonses for various offences, including driving without a valid licence, motorcycles without side mirrors, and illegal exhaust modifications.

The operation forms part of the police’s ongoing commitment to maintain safety on the roads, especially in hotspot areas where illegal racing has been a concern. The authorities noted that such activities not only endanger the riders themselves but also put the lives of other road users at risk.

In a statement, IPD Meradong urged all motorcyclists to follow road regulations strictly and ensure that their vehicles are always in good condition and meet safety standards. Police also reminded parents to keep a close watch on their children’s activities, especially at night, to prevent them from engaging in unlawful or dangerous behaviour.
