SINGAPORE – The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, has begun a four-day official working visit to Singapore.
The delegation, which arrived at Seletar Airport at noon on Wednesday, included Sarawak Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Skills Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee and his wife Datin Dr Haniza Zainal Abidin, as well as Fenny Nuli, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia (Sarawak Region).
Upon arrival, the Governor and his wife were warmly received by Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore, Dato’ Indera Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, and his wife Datin Indera Che Norhayati Soib, alongside senior officials from the Malaysian High Commission and the Office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak.
The couple’s first stop was the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS), which plays a key role in promoting Sarawak’s trade, investment and tourism interests in the republic.
On Friday, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah are scheduled to meet Singapore’s Minister of Social Development and Family, Masagos Zulkifli Masagos Mohamad, to discuss areas of cooperation.
Later that evening, they will pay a courtesy call on Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Singapore Palace.
This marks the Governor’s first official visit to Singapore since his appointment as Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, reflecting Sarawak’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding strategic cooperation with Singapore across multiple sectors.
In a statement, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah expressed their hope that the visit would deepen diplomatic relations and open new avenues for collaboration between Sarawak and Singapore.
The Governor and his delegation are expected to conclude their visit on Sunday.
