PM Anwar Extends Condolences on Passing of Bung Moktar Radin

KOTA KINABALU – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who passed away early yesterday morning.

Bung Moktar, who served as Chairman of Barisan Nasional Sabah, was also the Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan and Assemblyman for Lamag. His death marks the end of a long career in politics and administration, during which he was recognised for his dedication to defending the interests of the people of Sabah.

During his visit to the bereaved family, Anwar expressed sympathy on behalf of the MADANI Government, describing Bung Moktar’s passing as a significant loss not only to Sabah but also to Malaysia.

He highlighted the late leader’s contributions in governance and his role in strengthening political representation for the state.

“His passing is a great loss to the state of Sabah and the country, especially for his long service in administration, politics and the struggle to defend the people,” Anwar said.

The Prime Minister prayed for the family to be granted strength and resilience in facing this difficult time. He also hoped that Bung Moktar’s soul would be blessed and placed among the faithful.

Bung Moktar was a prominent figure in Sabah politics, known for his outspoken style and strong grassroots connections. His leadership within Barisan Nasional Sabah played a key role in shaping the coalition’s direction in the state.

The news of his passing has drawn condolences from across the political spectrum, with many acknowledging his decades of service and commitment to Sabah’s development. His legacy is expected to remain influential in the state’s political landscape.

The visit by the Prime Minister underscores the Federal Government’s recognition of Bung Moktar’s contributions and the importance of unity during a time of mourning.

It also reflects the broader values of the MADANI framework, which emphasises compassion, inclusivity, and respect for all communities.
