114 Organisations Benefit from RM657,000 MRP Grants in Krian

SARATOK – A total of 114 organisations in the Krian constituency have received allocations under the 2025 Small Rural Development Project (MRP) Grant, marking the third phase of disbursement for the year. The programme, held on Monday, was officiated by Krian assemblyman Friday Belik.

The recipients included Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), local associations, Parents and Teachers Associations (PIBG), and community-based groups.

The overall allocation for this phase amounted to RM657,000, aimed at strengthening grassroots development and supporting community initiatives across the constituency.

In his address, Friday Belik emphasised the importance of accountability in managing public funds. He urged all organisations to ensure that the grants are utilised effectively and transparently.

“I encourage each recipient to prepare a financial statement and send it to the Service Centre for records and examples,” he said, highlighting the need for proper documentation and reporting.

The assemblyman also underscored that the MRP scheme is designed to empower rural communities by providing resources for infrastructure, welfare, and social development.

He noted that the grants should serve as catalysts for improving local facilities and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Beyond the MRP allocations, Friday Belik presented additional grants from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) to three churches in the constituency.

These funds are intended to support religious development and community activities throughout the year, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusivity and multi-faith support.

The MRP programme has long been recognised as a key mechanism for channeling resources to rural constituencies in Sarawak. By targeting grassroots organisations, the initiative ensures that funds reach communities directly, enabling them to address local needs more effectively.

Previous phases of the 2025 MRP have already benefitted numerous groups across the state, with allocations supporting projects ranging from community halls to educational programmes.

Observers note that such funding plays a crucial role in bridging development gaps between urban and rural areas.

In constituencies like Krian, where agriculture and small-scale industries form the backbone of the economy, grants of this nature provide essential support for community resilience and growth.

The latest disbursement is expected to further strengthen cooperation among local organisations, while reinforcing the government’s broader agenda of rural empowerment.

With continued oversight and responsible management, the MRP grants are anticipated to deliver long-term benefits to the people of Krian.
