40th KEMAS Nursery Day Highlights Educators’ and Parents’ Role in Early Learning

BINTULU – The importance of early childhood education was underscored during the 40th KEMAS Nursery Children Appreciation Day and End-of-Year Ceremony 2025, held at Kampung Jabai Assembly Hall on Saturday.

The event was officiated by Tanjong Batu State Assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming, who emphasised that preschool education forms the foundation for children’s personality, cognitive growth and social skills.

He noted that structured early learning is vital in shaping disciplined, knowledgeable and morally upright future generations.

Johnny Pang highlighted the role of KEMAS Nursery in providing accessible and quality preschool education, particularly for rural communities.

He explained that such initiatives ensure children in less urbanised areas are not left behind in their formative years.

He also expressed gratitude to the KEMAS Nursery Community Educators, praising their dedication and commitment to nurturing young learners.

At the same time, he acknowledged the crucial role of parents and guardians as strategic partners in ensuring the success of early education programmes.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements of children from Kampung Jabai Class A, Kampung Jabai Class B, and Kampung Hulu Nyalau NKRA, marking the culmination of the 2025 session.

The event was described as a reflection of strong collaboration between teachers, parents and the local community.

Speeches during the ceremony reinforced the message that early education is not solely the responsibility of educators but requires active involvement from families and communities.

This collective effort, it was noted, helps build a supportive environment for children to thrive academically and socially.

Observers point out that the continued prioritisation of early childhood education in Sarawak aligns with national strategies to strengthen human capital development.

By focusing on preschool initiatives, the state is investing in long-term outcomes that benefit both individuals and society.

The appreciation day also served as a reminder of the shared responsibility in nurturing young minds, with educators, parents and communities working hand in hand to ensure children receive the best possible start in life.
